Asphalt Repair
The Frankfort Street Department purchases asphalt to produce
"hot mix" asphalt for routine road maintenance. This
asphalt is used for patching potholes as well as other asphalt
related projects we are involved in. Suring the winter
months when we are unable to run, we use a product referred as
"cold mix" is used for patching.
We attempt to ensure that streets are patched on a regular basis
when needed. Citizens can call the dispatch office at
(765) 659-2912, to report potholes.

Salt Spreading
Effective
2005, we will be salting the main roads with a combination of
salt and beet juice, which will adhere to our streets for many
more days than usual. We will also be using a salt brine
liquid on streets when there are icy conditions. This is
also a new procedure.

Street Sweeping
The Street Department
is responsible for keeping the streets clean and swept.
The City streets are continuously swept during the daytime hours
(7:00am - 3:30pm). A determined route sweeps streets.
Unless there are unusual circumstances or debris in a street
that poses a hazard, the sweeper operators do not jump around
sweeping streets on an individual request. Jumping around would
cause needless delays in regular sweeping and could contribute
to streets missed. Streets are swept four (4) times each
year. In addition we have a street sweeper following leaf
crews during leaf season (weather permitting).
In order to do a
better job, we do at times post no parking signs in
neighborhoods having a lot of street parking. While this
usually helps, we have found that neighborhoods that have a
pro-approach to getting cars off the street when we are sweeping
their area are even more effective. If a neighborhood
wants to work with the Street Department on scheduling an area
and assisting process, we are are more than willing to work with
you. (Neighborhood presidents or representative should
make these requests only.) If you are interested in doing
this, please call our dispatch office at (765) 659-2912.
As a rule, alleys are
only swept on a request basis. We do not sweep them as
part of our regular routine.

Alley
Maintenance
The Street Department
grades alleys on a regularly scheduled basis. Since some
alleys do not hold up as well as others, in addition to grading
on regular basis, we also address citizen's request for grading.
Stone is added to the
alleys only when needed, not necessarily when requested.
We also add street millings and then roll whenever possible.
